Vegan In Spokane: The Best Food & Fun In The Lilac City
If you’re looking for an affordable vegan weekend getaway, or just a fun stop on your roadtrip across I-90, I highly recommend visiting Spokane.
Spokane is very near and dear to my heart because it’s my hometown! I spent my entire childhood through high school years there, and its where many of my closest friends and family still reside.
While the term “vegan” was completely unknown to me growing up in Spokane (and being a vegetarian was viewed as “extreme”), the city was still a beautiful and fun place to live, from its parks and lakes to its proximity to top ski resorts and more. Summer is hot, fall is gorgeous, winter gets snowy and spring lights up with lilacs.
Now as an adult, visiting Spokane even 5 years ago was not the most convenient as a vegan, from the lack of dining options to vegan grocery staples. But now, the landscape is changing - and you’ll be surprised to find a budding vegan scene in the Lilac City!
I’m excited to share with you the many vegan-friendly restaurants, cafes, and bars in Spokane, plus a few of my favorite things to do while you’re there. Plus, I’ll share with you the major upgrades that the iconic Riverfront Park has gotten recently, making it a great place to visit.

Here are Spokane’s top vegan-friendly establishments you have to visit. Please let me know if you visit any of these spots, or what your favorites are!
RÜT Bar & Kitchen is one of those places that just wows you from beginning to end. Their craft cocktails are thoughtfully executed (not to mention gorgeous!) with a wide variety of spirits represented. Moving onto the food menu, RÜT stands out for their inventive and oh, so delicious takes on the humble vegetable.
Expect colorful, flavorful, and artfully plated dishes like their Rainbow-Jang Salad, made with zucchini noodles, carrots, peas, pickled shiitakes, radish, scallion, and herbs, tossed in a sesame vinaigrette and drizzled with a gochujang aioli. And wait till you see their entrees, like the Tofu Salmon and Soba.
