New Public Food Truck is a creative vegan food truck serving up “Bellingham's tastiest guilt-free guilty pleasures.” Intentional, organic, and gluten-free, New Public is the vegan crown jewel of Bellingham (in this author’s not-so-humble opinion).
Anna is the owner of New Public and a passionate advocate for the environment and animals. The entire menu is gluten-free except for the bread offerings, but you can easily substitute for a gluten-free bun. In her own words, Anna is “trying to build something special that is sustainable and built to last.”
What do we recommend? Literally anything and everything on the menu! The Tempeh Reuben, Spicy Chick-Fil-YAY!, Greek Gyro Fries, Nacho Burger made with Beyond Burger patty… just know you cannot go wrong at New Public. The food truck does change locations depending on the day, so be sure to check their website to find their whereabouts.

The Wild Oat Bakery & Cafe, located in the heart of downtown Bellingham, offers a fully vegan menu featuring comfort foods and pastries with an impressive selection of gluten-free offerings.
The Wild Oat breakfast menu offers classics like pancakes and Belgium waffles, plus heart-healthy options like their amazing layered parfait with house-made lemon yogurt. Yum!
For lunch, choose from their extensive menu of burgers and sandwiches, like their Fysh Fillet Sandwich, Meatball Sub, Reuben, and French Dip! OMG and their potato salad is soooo good.
Grab a frothy latte while you're there made with organic and locally-roasted coffee, and don’t forget a vegan scone for the road!

Sage Against the Machine is a fully vegan food truck owned and operated by Tara and Nate Johnson. The couple decided to fulfill their shared dream of opening an eatery in 2018 and have since grown a devout fan base.
Their menu features jackfruit dishes like the BBQ jackfruit sandwich, as well as quinoa-based offerings like quinoa curry wrap and Moroccan quinoa salad. Brandywine Kitchen is a Black-owned restaurant with the mission of combining cuisine and local farming, with owners who are passionate about food and sustainable agriculture. Brandywine is a Bellingham favorite for vegans, with vegan-friendly soups and tofu dishes including Banh mi’s and tacos.
L&L Libations is a cocktail bar owned and operated by the folks at Leaf & Ladle and it’s right next door! They’ve got a Vegan Crunchwrap on the menu as well as Jalapeno Vegan Mac & Cheese.
Övn Wood Fired Pizza is a “simple space that provides a canvas for inspired pizza,” and located in the heart of Bellingham’s historic Fairhaven neighborhood. Their almond-based cheese is one of the best this author has tried! We love the Tomaaten or the Lanterna wood-fired pizza.
Twin Sisters Brewing Company has a beautiful indoor space with soaring ceilings and a huuuuuge outdoor beer garden. Their menu has some great vegan-friendly options like Vegan Beer Hash for brunch, Vegan Fry Basket (with garlic, nutritional yeast, and herbs) to satisfy your snack craving, or vegan chili, black bean burgers, Bahn mi, vegan mac and cheese, and vegan sweet potato or Thai cauliflower tacos for lunch or dinner!
big love juice bar + kitchen is where “Bellingham goes for fuel.” Their menu features raw organic juice, smoothies & smoothie bowls, avocado toast, smoky tempeh burrito, superfood lattes, and more. Basically, they’ve got the goods to make you feel happy AND healthy.
Soy House - “Traditional, authentic Vietnamese dishes with creative innovation. Soy House offers excellent food with a Pacific Northwest influence.” Their vegan-friendly menu boasts dozens of options that are conveniently marked on the menu, making it easy to enjoy your dining experience. We love the veggie pho with tofu!
Pepper Sisters offers “Southwestern comfort food in an art-filled spot with brightly colored booths, funky decor & patio” plus lots of vegan-friendly options on the menu (marked vegan upon request).
Pure Bliss is arguably the best cake shop in Bellingham and has to-die-for delectables like vegan carrot cake (this author’s favorite), vegan chocolate cake, vegan chocolate chip cookie, cocoa nutty wedges, vegan peanut butter brownie, berry polenta muffin. Can we just have dessert for dinner? Yes.
Quantum Leaf is a brand new and all vegan, gluten-free and alcohol-free restaurant, brought to you by the owners of SconeGrown. “Chef Kyla has Crohn's disease and as those with chronic illnesses know, finding food that doesn't trigger a flare can prove extremely difficult. The menu at Quantum Leaf is designed specifically with that in mind. In addition to being fully Vegan, Gluten-free, and Non-alcoholic, we also have oil-free, soy-free, and allium-free options!”
V Go’s is an all-vegan grocery store with pantry items, refrigerated and frozen goods to stock up on. They also sell merch from local sanctuaries, plus tons of vegan apparel and merch like tote bags, stickers, and apparel. It’s also home to the new Sage Against The Machine food counter!
