A Guide To The Best Vegan Sandwiches In Seattle

A Guide To The Best Vegan Sandwiches In Seattle

Sometimes you just want a big-ol' hunkin' sandwich to STUFF. YOUR. FACE. WITH. But c'mon now... do they really even make drool-worthy vegan sandwiches in Seattle like that?

And no, we're not talkin' about a pile of vegetables in-between two pieces of healthy whole-grain bread... We want a freakin' SANDWICH, dammit! But where can we find that in granola city?

Thank goodness there are actually some kick-ass vegan sandwiches in Seattle made by people who know just how we like 'em.

When you're craving a monstrous, messy, saucy, friggin' mean ol' sandwich with the perfect bread that just straight-up satisfies, you gotta visit one of these spots.

Top Vegan Sandwiches In Seattle That Satisfy

Here's the hot-n-heavy list of the most bad-ass vegan sandwiches in Seattle. They’re listed in no specific order, but you’re more than welcome to rep your favorite in the comments below.

Pack some extra napkins in your pockets, folks. Maybe even some wet-wipes.

Georgetown

Rising from the ashes of 2020 is Georgetown Liquor Co (or GLC for short). And their former, vegan-friendly menu is now entirely plant-based, and completely delicious.

This comes as no surprise since GLC was resurrected by the brilliant culinary minds behind Highline Bar (arguably Seattle’s top spot for vegan fare - especially for slammin’ sandos). And while Highline Bar may not be re-opening, the rock n’ roll spirit of the vegan dive bar lives on in GLC’s food.

Have fun choosing between the French Dip, the Reuben, the BLT, or the BBQ Pulled Pork. We recommend eating here before or after your visit Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park for a game or show because, well - the food is just so much better here. They’re also open for late night, with a Happy Hour you don’t wanna miss. Visit Georgetown Liquor Co.

HONEYHOLE SANDWICHES

Capitol Hill

One of Seattle's longtime favorite spots to get a great sandwich, Honeyhole now has a full list of vegetarian (and vegan-friendly!) sammies to choose from. Some mods might be necessary so be sure to ask.

We recommend trying The Juke - a specialty vegan BBQ chicken sando (sub vegan cheese), or the Bellisimo with Smoked Tomato Field Roast slices, basil, grilled onions, banana peppers, and red wine vinegar (sub vegan cheese).

Wanna build your own? They've got vegan bacon, vegan chicken, Field Roast slices, and burger patties, as well as two types of vegan cheese and vegan mayo! Substitute a gluten-free baguette for $2.25.

Honeyhole now has a second location in the Central District, and their flagship spot is located in Capitol Hill. Visit Holeyhole

CHUMINH TOFU & VEGAN DELI

International District

You’ll find ten different kinds of Banh Mi’s at Seattle’s only vegan Vietnamese joint. Favorites among vegan locals include the Spicy Tofu and Lemongrass Chicken, but why not try them all just to be sure?

The International District has been hit especially hard during the pandemic, and could use as much love and support as possible. So the next time you’re headed out for a ball game at T-Mobile Park or a show at WaMu Theater, hit up ChuMinh beforehand - only a few blocks away.

You can also take home some fresh or seasoned tofu from their deli for home, or hit up their amazing buffet for some of the most delicious vegan eats in Seattle. Visit ChuMinh Tofu & Vegan Deli

Of course, we know that cravings from the past come around from time to time. And if a cheesesteak sandwich was one of your weaknesses, you gotta hit up King Philly.

Their Vegan Cheesesteak is made with Beyond Meat, seasoned and grilled-to-perfection with onions and peppers, and vegan cream cheese smeared on a toasty roll.

Do yourself a favor and get down to King Philly when you want a freakin' fantastic and flavorful sandwich that'll keep you full for quite a while. And don’t miss their happy hour sandwich deal. Visit King Philly

Porto.bello.french.dip. Enough said. But we'll keep going since there's even more to rave about at Box Bar. Like their brunch menummm… ok, back to sandwiches.

This 100% vegan restaurant has some phenomenal sandwiches like their Tofu Bahn You, Smokey BBQ Tempeh, BLT, and Chickpea Cheddar on grilled sourdough. Did we mention the portobello french dip? Visit Box Bar

LIFE ON MARS (21+)

Capitol Hill

Life On Mars comes in the clutch yet again - this time, with some of the best vegan sandwiches in Seattle.

Their Not So Crabby Po' Boy is made with pan-seared hearts of palm crab cakes, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and spiced aioli.

Another favorite is the ChopCheese, inspired by Questlove's favorite ballpark meal. It's made with Beyond Meat, onions, sweet and spicy relish, cheese, and drizzled with garlic aioli on a toasted hoagie.

Don’t miss their brunch sandwich, and keep an eye out for specials like this one pictured: the Ziggy Piggy sausage sandwich.

Sandos come with fresh-cut fries, cabbage slaw, or house-made potato salad. Get a gluten-free bun for $2. Visit Life On Mars

ESTERS ENOTECA

Fremont

Esters Enoteca is less well-known in Seattle's vegan scene (for now), but don't sleep on these sandwiches... (Seriously… don’t sleep on ‘em... That would be quite messy and a waste of a sandwich!)

Located in the heart of Fremont, they've got two very popular vegan-friendly paninis that you've gotta try, including their Crispy Tofu & Roasted Yam Panini. It's made with caramelized onion, gremolata aïoli, and arugula.

The other? A Jerked Jackfruit Panini, with mango-habanero barbecue sauce, smoked and jerk-spiced jackfruit, pickled radish, and green papaya slaw.

They recently brought on a Fried Eggplant Panini with the option for vegan mozzarella, and it’s freaking delicious. Visit Esters Enoteca

More Vegan-Friendly Sandwich Spots

Here are a few more hot spots in Seattle that make awesome vegan sandwiches, recommended by vegan locals. Plus, be sure to pay a visit to these other establishments just outside Seattle with great vegan sandwiches.

Other Coast Cafe - Ballard
Yep, that Other Coast Cafe. The one that you used to love visiting, but since turning vegan you've been avoiding in fear of a Rajun Cajun relapse. Well, guess what? They've got an amazing vegan sandwich! The Vegan Heaven features a cajun-seasoned garbanzo bean salad, lettuce, tomato, vegan mayo, oil, and vinegar on a delicious baguette.

You can also build your own, or substitute Field Roast deli slices and vegan cheese on any sandwich at no additional charge. Hallelujah! Visit Other Coast Cafe

More Sandos Just Outside Seattle

Bayside Cafe - Everett
This 100% vegan newcomer (in 2020, no less!) is North of Seattle, but their food is so good we had to include them. Three kickass sandwiches grace their menu, so have fun choosing.

The Chickun Burger features crispy chickun, ranch buffalo sauce, tomato, pickles, onions, and lettuce. Want something a little spicier? Try the Chickun Ghost, with crispy chickun, spicy aoli, tomatoes, onions , lettuce, pickles, and nacho cheese sauce.

They also have a Fishless Filet Sandwich, made with a fried fishless filet, homemade tartar sauce, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Now, are you gonna get your sammy with curly fries, straight-cut fries, onion rings, or tots? They don't make deciding that easy, either.

Mike's Cafe & Wine Bar -Friday Harbor
We guarantee you'll be visiting Friday Harbor a lot more after you've tried one of Mike's Cafe sandwiches. Get a Phili-Up Cheesesteak, Pesto Chick'n, BLTA, or the Friday Harbor Reuben, all of which come with house-made potato salad or green salad. Mike and his team will also help you find the perfect wine pairing for each sandwich - including wines that they make in-house!

My's Vietnamese Sandwiches - Tukwila
Variety of vegan Bahn Mi sandwiches with tofu, vegan ham, and vegan fish.

Cafe Wylde - Everett
