Seattle might be known for its coffee and clouds, but let’s be honest: nothing pairs better with a chilly and grey day than a big ol’ plate (or bowl!) of comfort food.

Luckily for us vegans, Seattle delivers when it comes to cozy, carby, saucy goodness. From creamy plant-based pastas that’ll make you forget dairy ever existed to soul-warming ramen, I’ve rounded up my favorite vegan comfort food spots in the city. Grab your stretchy pants, because this one’s gonna be good.

5-spice tofu congee

Secret Congee, Ballard

This 5-Spice Tofu Congee from Secret Congee is comfort food with a serious glow-up. It’s creamy, cozy rice porridge topped with crispy tofu, taro root, peanuts, and a sprinkle of goji berries for a little magic in every bite. And don’t sleep on their seasonal bowls — the current Organic Miso Shiitake Kabocha Congee is a total dream for fall!

Pumpkin Cury

Kati Vegan Thai,
South Lake Union

Kati Vegan Thai is a cold-weather lifesaver and a forever favorite for Seattle vegans. Their Pumpkin Curry is pure, cozy comfort. Think big tender chunks of pumpkin simmered in a rich red coconut milk curry with broccoli, bell peppers, and fragrant Thai basil. It’s warming, a little sweet, a little spicy, and wildly satisfying. And if pumpkin’s not your thing (I see you, texture people!), their lineup of green, red, yellow, and massaman curries brings all the flavor and all the aromatics (clove, cinnamon, cardamom, and more) to keep you warm through the Seattle gloom. A must-stop for anyone craving comfort in a bowl, and one of the best spots for vegan Thai food in Seattle. Photo Credit: Kati Vegan Thai

Chiho Bistro, Belltown

These vegan soup dumplings from Chiho Bistro are little pockets of joy! They’re tender, hand-folded wrappers filled with savory plant-based pork, mushrooms, and green onions, all swimming in rich mushroom broth. A perfectly steamy bite that proves comfort food doesn’t need meat to hit the spot. Plus, it’s currently the only spot for vegan soup dumplings in town. Want more vegan Chinese food in Seattle? Veggie Ramen

Arashi Ramen,

A cozy bowl that packs flavor, and optional heat! It’s filled with thin noodles in a rich vegetable broth loaded with tofu, veggies, and all the toppings that make ramen magic. Pro tip: go for mild or hot with their house-made chili paste to warm things up just right.

Vegan Nachos

Pablo y Pablo, Wallingford

These loaded vegan nachos hit all the right notes — crunchy, creamy, spicy, and downright addictive. Stacked with cashew “cheese,” spiced beans, and all the fixings, they’re already a win… but do yourself a favor and add the vegan chorizo. It takes these nachos from great to can’t-stop-eating status. It’s one of Seattle’s most beloved vegan nachos in town.

Mushroom Miso ramen

Yoroshiku, Wallingford

This Mushroom Miso Ramen is cozy-in-a-bowl perfection. It’s savory, earthy, and packed with umami goodness. The miso broth wraps around tender shimeji mushrooms, sweet corn, and tofu for a soothing, satisfying bite that’ll warm you from the inside out.

The Portobello French Dip at Box Bar in West Seattle is a savory delight. Caramelized onions, vegan provolone, and zesty lemon mayo piled on a crisp French baguette, served with a rich vegetable jus for dipping—comfort in every bite! It’s not wonder it made the list of Best Vegan Sandwiches in Seattle.

Spicy Corn Patties

Sen Noodle Bar, Ballard

Meet your new favorite crispy addiction: Sen Noodle Bar’s Spicy Corn Patties. Deep-fried corn, zesty chili paste, lime leaf, and that sweet chili sauce that makes you go “just one more”… until you realize you’ve eaten the whole plate.

Filipino Piroshky

Pinoyshki, Capitol Hill

Pinoyshki is serving up one of the most comforting, cross-cultural bites in the city with their Filipino piroshky—a fusion that somehow feels both nostalgic and totally new. These hand-held pastries are baked, not fried, with soft, pillowy dough wrapped around bold Filipino flavors. The vegan options are always standouts: the Laing, filled with collard greens simmered in a creamy, mildly spicy coconut-miso sauce, and the Tofu Sisig, packed with seasoned tofu tossed in a zippy chili-citrus vegan aioli. And don’t sleep on their monthly piroshky, which always includes at least one vegan flavor inspired by seasons, celebrations, or Filipino traditions. It’s the kind of comfort food that warms your hands and your heart.

Coconut Lime Chowder

Pike Place Chowder, Pike Place Market (Post Alley)

A Seattle icon with a vegan twist! Pike Place Chowder’s coconut veggie chowder is luxuriously creamy, packed with fresh veggies, and brightened up with a splash of lime. Bonus: those chilly months mean shorter lines, so you can grab your bowl of comfort without the wait. It’s a must-visit when you’re perusing Pike Place Market.

Vegan chicken & waffles

Life On Mars (21+),
Capitol Hill

Everything at Life on Mars is chef’s kiss, from their stacked burgers to those craveable nachos — but brunch here just hits different. On a chilly weekend morning, nothing warms you up like their Chick’n & Waffles: crispy fried cauliflower on a fluffy vegan buttermilk waffle, drizzled with bourbon maple syrup and a touch of spicy aioli. Sweet, savory, and straight-up soul-soothing. Pair it with a boozy brunch cocktail or their delicious drip coffee and you’ll be feelin’ good in no time.

Tom Kha Soup

45th Street Thai, Wallingford

At 45th Street Vegetarian Thai, the entire menu is vegetarian, and most dishes can easily be made vegan — a dream for plant-based Thai food lovers! Their Vegan Tom Kha is a perfect example: a hot-and-sour coconut milk soup infused with lemongrass, lime leaf, galangal, mushrooms, onions, Thai chili paste, fresh and fried tofu, and a sprinkle of cilantro. Creamy, tangy, and just the right amount of spice, it’s a cozy bowl of comfort in every sip that can easily feed two. They also have Tom Yum, Khao Soi, and a special House Soup to warm you right up. It’s easy to see why 45th Street is one of the best spots for vegan Thai food in Seattle.

vegan pasta

Tavolàta

Tavolàta is one of those rare spots where vegans can enjoy a true pasta night without compromise. Their menu changes seasonally, but the team is always happy to craft something plant-based and delicious—just leave a note in your reservation if you're dreaming of a vegan gnocchi bowl or would like your pasta a bit more customized. Their spaghetti, penne, and gnocchi are all vegan, making it easy to build the cozy, carb-loaded dish of your dreams with whatever seasonal veggies and sauces they’re offering. This visit, they even had Jack & Anne’s vegan jackfruit meatballs upon request! Pair your bowl with a glass of wine or one of their rotating mocktails, and you’ve got the perfect comforting night out.

Soup & Crispy Tacos

Situ Tacos, Ballard

At Situ Tacos, flavors from Lebanese and Mexican cuisine come together in every bite! Their Spicy Cauliflower Crispy Tacos feature broiled harissa cauliflower with a cilantro chickpea mash, all stuffed into the original crunchy taco shells that are fried, filled, and pan-toasted to golden perfection (just don’t eat the toothpicks!). Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi

Monkey Bridge, Ballard

The Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi at Monkey Bridge is the perfect cozy bite! Toasted French baguette stuffed with sautéed lemongrass tofu, cucumber, cilantro, and pickled carrot, served with a warm side of vegan veggie soup for dipping. It takes this classic sandwich to the next level. Mild and flavorful, it’s ideal for anyone who loves big taste without the heat.

Fresh Pineapple Fried Rice

Kin Len, Fremont

The Fresh Pineapple Fried Rice at Kin Len Thai Night Bites is as festive as it is flavorful! Turmeric-infused fried rice with tofu, onion, carrot, cashews, and raisins, served right in a pineapple shell, oh my! It’s a vibrant, tropical escape from Seattle’s gray skies. The colorful, welcoming space makes every bite feel like a mini celebration, and a definite favorite in Fremont for vegans.

Horseradish & Roast Beef Sandwich

Georgetown Liquor Co (21+), Georgetown

The Horseradish & Roast Beef at Georgetown Liquor Co. is a must-try for plant-based comfort lovers. We could list all of their burgers and sandwiches on this list if we had room, not to mention their mondo breakfast burrito. But for now, the one we are craving for comfort is THE BEEF.

House-made vegan roast beef topped with horseradish aioli, romaine, tomato, red onion, and pepperoncini on a French roll, I mean come on… it’s savory, tangy, and totally crave-worthy. Pair it with a side of potato salad and finish it off with one of their knock-out desserts and you’ll be happily stuffed for days.

Stir-Fried Yakisoba

Bop Box, Georgetown

The Stir-Fried Yakisoba at Bop Box is a flavor-packed delight. Wok-sautéed noodles in a sweet and savory sauce with spinach, cabbage, onion, scallion, and toasted sesame. Add spicy glazed tofu for a protein-packed, powerhouse meal that hits all the right notes.

Lamen Noodles

Dumpling The Noodle

If you’re craving noodles, this one is for you. Dumpling The Noodle’s Chili Lamen Noodles are one of my absolute vegan comfort-food must-haves in Seattle. Made with traditional lamen or la mian (hand-pulled noodles stretched and twisted until beautifully chewy and springy), this dish is all about texture and flavor. The noodles are tossed in a secret sesame-based sauce that’s salty, a little sweet, nutty, and just lightly spicy, then topped with bean sprouts, yu choy, garlic, green onion, and cilantro. Choose either fried tofu or mock duck and don’t skip a side of garlic or dry-fried green beans.

Japanese Curry

curry Lab Sapporo

Curry Lab Sapporo is bringing something totally new (and very needed) to Seattle’s comfort-food scene with their Japanese soup curry, a Hokkaido classic done so right. From the team behind Yoroshiku, this cozy bowl starts with a rich, veggie-based soup curry simmered with warming spices - the kind that thaw you out instantly on a cold Seattle day. You can choose soft or fried tofu (both are excellent), load up on tender vegetables, and pick your spice level from 1–10 depending on how brave you’re feeling. It’s soothing, flavorful, and one of the most satisfying new additions to the city’s vegan comfort lineup.
