Salt & Straw Commits To More Vegan Ice Cream Flavors
Attention all you vegan ice cream lovers, connoisseurs, and enthusiasts: This news is for you.
Salt & Straw, a West Coast ice cream oasis, has announced a commitment that 20% of their rotating flavors would now be vegan.
Salt & Straw has always carried at least one vegan variety of their creative ice cream selections, like the light and refreshing yet also creamy Strawberry & Coconut Water Sorbet.
Salt & Straw has named this phenomenon “Vegandulgence,” and the monthly vegan rotating flavors can be found in local scoop shops or online by the pint.
While coconut cream is a staple amongst many vegan ice cream varieties, Salt & Straw's vegan ice creams feature other dairy-alternative ingredients including rice, macadamias, beans, and even chufas.
A specialty February vegan flavor, Lemon Cheesecake Crumble, combines cashews with coconut yogurt to make a rich and creamy non-dairy divinity that folds into a house-made gluten-free almond crust.
Expect many more decadent flavors like Lemon Cheesecake Crumble on their menus.
Salt & Straw vegan ice cream can be found in Ballard, Capitol Hill, or Totem Lake locations, or online.
