Asian-Owned Beauty Brands With Vegan Products We Love

Written by Angelica Kelley and Darby Bundy

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’re highlighting 6 Asian-owned beauty companies with vegan and cruelty-free products we love.

Chosen by our beauty specialist and contributing writer Angelica Kelley, these products are tried and true - and you’re going to love them, too!

If you’re looking for a self-care treat or a thoughtful gift for your vegan friend, these products are a great choice. So let’s get to it.

COCOKIND DAILY SPF 32

Cocokind has been a hot commodity lately with their skincare, makeup, and beauty bev powders - drink powders that promote healthy skin from the inside.

Our favorite product that’s been selling out in stores is their Daily SPF 32. It’s fragrance-free, and formulated with blue phytoplankton and micro-algae that leaves you with a lightweight finish. This is the sunscreen that’s great to carry with you everywhere.

Note: These four Cocokind products are formulated with beeswax and are not considered vegan: Macabeet Tinted Moisture Stick, Mymatcha All-Over Moisture Stick, Skin Butter, Turmeric Stick.

Asian-American celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta has had a beauty line for some time now, but it’s only recently he’s ventured into adding a few vegan products. We’re so glad he did, because they are top notch.

His most popular vegan beauty item is the Monochrome Moment - Velvet Blush that in four gorgeous shades. The blush uses plant moisturizes that creates a silky smooth finish that melts seamlessly onto the skin.

This item is definitely in our bag for the summer.

You’ve probably seen this brand at countless stores, but did you know it’s an Asian-owned company?

The premise for Sweet Chef is to keep up with the K Beauty rituals using all-natural plant derived ingredients, and they create serums to eye creams and more.

Our personal favorites are the Fresh Pressed Sheet Masks; they’re always a treat for a chill night in, and make easy and fun gifts for friends.

Co-founded by Ju Rhyu in 2012 during the K-beauty explosion, Hero products have just hit the shelves of big box stores across the US after a much-needed rebranding .

Gaining immense popularity via social media, their “hero” product is the Mighty Patch that helps reduce acne bumps overnight.

BASE COAT

NAIL POLISH

Base Coat’s primary focus is on vegan and cruelty-free nail treatments, and they’re a must-try. They also have salons across the US, including downtown Seattle.

Their cleanest products come from the Breathable (10 Free) line; these products are produced without the top 10 most harmful ingredients and they are also vegan, cruelty-free, and Halal Certified.

Not interested in nail polish? No problem! Base Coat also created a body care line with body oils, scrubs, salt soaks, and body creme.

This brand was created by Jason Wu, the extremely talented fashion designer.

The line focuses on neutrals and nude tones, with a product range from eyeshadows to full lip products. The collection is very reminiscent of KKW beauty, but at half the cost - and products have just launched into Target stores around the US.

The Flora 9 - 01 Matte Agave palette is a definite makeup bag staple for its gentle and warm tones. Top it off with The Classic Liquid Liner for a soft day look. Note: Not all products are vegan.

We hope this guide introduced you to a new favorite brand! Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments!
