Eating Well At Allyum - Seattle's New Plant-Based Restaurant
[UPDATED 2022: After an amazing year in business, Allyum is permanently closed.]
You’ll find the phrase Eat Well, Be Kind, Feel Good painted in bright, happy letters across the front wall of Allyum - Seattle's newest plant-based spot to open this year, located in West Seattle.
The phrase is at once cheery and inviting, setting the tone for the playful, well-curated dishes that owners Ally Rael and Dahli Strayer are offering.
It only seems right that they opened their doors on 1/1/21 - the day that most of us were looking forward to a year filled with new potential - or at least the potential for seriously good brunch.
In what feels like a lightning-fast start to the year, Allyum has already showcased a dazzling diversity of plant-based dishes.
Allyum's Menu Celebrates The Versatility of Plants
Rather than centering their dishes on meat substitutes or approximations, the folks at Allyum put plants front and center - asserting that plant-based foods can be mind-blowingly good and equally as satisfying.
Allyum's dinner specials celebrate a range of cultural traditions and flavors, ranging from Creole-inspired Beetroot Po’Boys to Latina Champiñones y Papas a La Diabla.
The rotating dinner menu invites repeat visits, with each menu offering a world of new flavors and ingredients.
Another smart feature is the option to ‘Fire the Menu!,’ i.e.: order one of everything at a super reasonable price. This is perfect for when absolutely everything looks good, or for the Serial Grazers(™) among us.
While takeout continues to be a preferred option for many diners, having a little of everything allows you to travel the menu and have leftovers to share.
Coupled with their regular menu rotation, Allyum creates a space you want to visit again and again, with a take-out experience that feels truly intentional.
In addition to their dinner specials, Allyum offers both sweet and savory weekend brunch options. The Carrot Lox Benny is a particular standout, offering avocado, greens, and alliums (of course!) slathered with a generous serving of sumptuous vegan hollandaise. Try pairing it with a glass of their Rosé (Revelry 2019) to balance some of the richer flavors with a light, citrusy wine.
Between the fried maitake mushrooms + cultured vegan butter, the Chikn’ Fried Mushroom & Waffle is a total umami-bomb, balanced nicely with sweet and smoky maple syrup.
In accordance with Phase 2 reopening plans, as of February 5th, they are also offering limited indoor dining.
