Enjoy Seattle's Sunshine At These Vegan-Friendly Rooftops And Patios

Believe it or not, Seattle has a gorgeous summertime!

Sure, we gotta wait out 9-10 months of gray to get it… but besides that, July and August are pretty much all sunshine.

Because the nice weather is so unbelievably fleeting, its crucial to take full advantage of the outdoor restaurant patios, rooftop bars, and beer gardens when the sun comes out.

Below I’ve listed the top restaurants and bars with outdoor seating that offer great vegan food.

Then, I list some scenic rooftop bars and lounges you should definitely visit just for the breath-taking views. Most of these lounges don’t have any substantial vegan food options, so I’ve got some restaurant recommendations handy for you to enjoy before or after.

Lastly, it wouldn’t be a proper Seattle patio list without mentioning some of our amazing breweries. Most Seattle breweries let you BYO food to enjoy in their beer gardens, and many play host to rotating and vegan-friendly food trucks.

I hope this list of recommendations for Seattle patios, rooftops, and beer gardens takes you somewhere new and scores you a well-deserved dose of Vitamin D. Be sure to send this to a friend!

For A Casual Hang

Seattle’s breweries are low-maintenance environments where you can casually drop in, kick back with a cold pint, and enjoy the sunshine. The breweries and taprooms featured below have awesome beer gardens and large open air spaces, perfect for a group of friends to get together without the hassle of making reservations or planning ahead.

In the summer, many of these breweries have lawn game tournaments, and host live music, comedy shows, and other fun shenanigans, so be sure to check their event schedules.

All breweries listed below are kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and even allow you to BYO food, with the exception of Standard Brewing and Old Stove Pike Place (don’t worry, they have some good food for ya).

A note about breweries: The process of brewing beer on a commercial scale often involves the use of animal-derived products for filtering. Additionally, some cream ales, stouts, and other beers might have lactose or animal products in the beer itself. This goes for wine and spirits as well. Please use your own discretion. I have yet to confirm if any Seattle breweries are fully vegan in their brewing processes, as none are officially certified as fully vegan.

  • Stoup Brewing (Ballard) - Award-winning brewery with a variety of outdoor seating options and heaters, plus food trucks in rotation daily, including vegan-friendly Kathmandu Momocha. Or, order takeout from Cycle Dogs!

  • Urban Family Brewing (Ballard) - Specializes in sours, farmhouse ales and hoppy beers, plus rotating food trucks like vegan-friendly Tamale My Life and Layers Sandwich Co. to enjoy at patio tables with umbrellas and a fire pit. Or, order takeout from Cycle Dogs or El Borracho!

  • Bale Breaker & Yonder Cider Taproom (Ballard) - Collaborative taproom with 6,000 square feet of outdoor space including lawn chairs, fire pits, and large tables. Rotating food trucks including T’juana Tacos. Or, order takeout from Cycle Dogs or El Borracho!

  • Ounces Taproom & Beer Garden (West Seattle) - Taproom with 30 taps of Washington-only beers, ciders, and wine. Large outdoor patio. Rotating food trucks including vegan-friendly Scooby Dogs. Or, order takeout or delivery from Luna Park Cafe!

  • Rooftop Brewing Co. (Queen Anne) - Award-winning brewery overlooking the Salmon Bay ship canal with a large rooftop patio. Rotating food trucks including vegan-friendly Alaskan Dumplings. Order takeout or delivery from The Sushi Samurai!

  • Standard Brewing (Central District) - 21+ brewery and taproom specializing in IPAs, lagers, and stouts. Outside food is not allowed, but they do offer vegan tacos and snacks. Because they operate a restaurant out of the brewery, dogs are not allowed. Not feeling tacos? Dine nearby at Oak (mentioned above), only 6-minute drive South.

  • Old Stove Gardens (Ballard) - Located in the former Lagunita’s space, this Old Stove location serves as a taproom with plenty of room for large groups, free Wednesday night trivia, and BYO food. Order takeout from Next Level Burger, Other Coast Cafe or Crackle Mi for nearby vegan eats!

  • Old Stove Ship Canal (Queen Anne) - This Old Stove location has a large outdoor area and covered patio tables. Rotating food trucks park outside, or BYO food. Order takeout from Ian’s Pizza or Kamakura in Fremont for nearby vegan eats!
