A Guide To The Best Vegan Sandwiches In Seattle

[UPDATED July 2024]

Sometimes you just want a big-ol' hunkin' sandwich to STUFF. YOUR. FACE. WITH. But c'mon now... do they really even make drool-worthy vegan sandwiches in Seattle like that?

And no, we're not talkin' about a pile of vegetables in-between two pieces of healthy whole-grain bread... We want a freakin' SANDWICH, dammit! But where can we find that in granola city?

Thank goodness there are actually some kick-ass vegan sandwiches in Seattle made by people who know just how we like 'em.

When you're craving a monstrous, messy, saucy, friggin' mean ol' sandwich with the perfect bread that just straight-up satisfies, you gotta visit one of these spots.

Top Vegan Sandwiches In Seattle That Satisfy

Here's the hot-n-heavy list of the most bad-ass vegan sandwiches in Seattle. They’re listed in no specific order, but you’re more than welcome to rep your favorite in the comments below.

Pack some extra napkins in your pockets, folks. Maybe even some wet-wipes.

GLC’s Vegan Reuben. Photo Credit: GLC

Rising from the ashes of 2020 is Georgetown Liquor Co (or GLC for short). And their former, vegan-friendly menu is now entirely plant-based, and completely delicious.

This comes as no surprise since GLC was resurrected by the brilliant culinary minds behind Highline Bar (arguably Seattle’s top spot for vegan fare - especially for slammin’ sandos). And while Highline Bar may not be re-opening, the rock n’ roll spirit of the vegan dive bar lives on in GLC’s food.

Have fun choosing between the French Dip, the Reuben, the BLT, or the BBQ Pulled Pork. We recommend eating here before or after your visit Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park for a game or show because, well - the food is just so much better here. They’re also open for late night, with a Happy Hour you don’t wanna miss. Visit Georgetown Liquor Co.

While there’s been plenty of drama with HoneyHole over the past couple of years, its new owners re-opened the sandwich shop in Spring of 2024 and they promise to deliver drama-free and delicious sandwiches. This Capitol Hill shop has been feeding the neighborhood since 1999, and we are so excited to see it live on under new ownership.

They’ve veganized 5 sandwiches from their regular menu, including a vegan BLT, or try the vegan Emilio Pestivez made with vegan basil mayo, smoked tomato deli slices, sautéed onions, vegan mozzarella, lettuce, roma tomato, and balsamic glaze. And if you like mushrooms, you’ll love the vegan Va Va Shroom, with roasted shrooms (obviously), fire-roasted peppers, bruschetta, melted vegan mozzarella, and vegan basil aioli. You can also build your own, just the way you like it.

Craving a side? Check out their vegan potato salad and vegan chili! They’ve also got a brand new bar program going, perfect for pairing with your sandwiches.

You’ll find ten different kinds of Banh Mi’s at Seattle’s only vegan Vietnamese joint. Favorites among vegan locals include the Spicy Tofu and Lemongrass Chicken, but why not try them all just to be sure?

The International District has been hit especially hard during the pandemic, and could use as much love and support as possible. So the next time you’re headed out for a ball game at T-Mobile Park or a show at WaMu Theater, hit up ChuMinh beforehand - only a few blocks away.

Or, check out their brand new walk-up cafe in the New Holly area! All the ChuMinh sandwiches you love, and right off the Light Rail. Get off at Othello stop and head North about 2 blocks to find it on MLK Jr. Way.

Porto.bello.french.dip. Enough said. But we'll keep going since there's even more to rave about at Box Bar. Like their brunch menummm… ok, back to sandwiches.

This 100% vegan restaurant has some phenomenal sandwiches like their Tofu Bahn You, Smokey BBQ Tempeh, BLT, and Chickpea Cheddar on grilled sourdough. Did we mention the portobello french dip? Visit Box Bar

Life On Mars comes in the clutch yet again - this time, with some of the best vegan sandwiches in Seattle.

Their Not So Crabby Po' Boy is made with pan-seared hearts of palm crab cakes, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and spiced aioli.

Another favorite is the ChopCheese, inspired by Questlove's favorite ballpark meal. It's made with Beyond Meat, onions, sweet and spicy relish, cheese, and drizzled with garlic aioli on a toasted hoagie.

Don’t miss their brunch sandwich, and keep an eye out for specials like this one pictured: the Ziggy Piggy sausage sandwich.

Sandos come with fresh-cut fries, cabbage slaw, or house-made potato salad. Get a gluten-free bun for $2. Visit Life On Mars

Another popular spot for incredible vegan sandwiches is Other Coast Cafe in Ballard. This humble spot feels a lot like you’re in season one of The Bear, with a lot less yelling. But instead of “The Original Beef”, their signature sando is The Rajun Cajun. And bless their hearts, they’ve created a vegan version that you’ll be craving again and again.

This toasted sammy is made with Field Roast deli slices, melty vegan cheese, tomato, red onion, and a spicy vegan salsa mayo. Be sure to grab some napkins…

Want a different option? How about two? Their Miss Arletta is made with dry rubbed tofu, olive relish, vegan cheese and tomato dressed with balsamic and olive oil on their delicious baguette. The Vegan Heaven- a cajun-spiced chickpea salad sandwich with vegan mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil, and vinegar - is also a must. We’ve tried choosing a favorite, but they’re all so well done… tell us below if you love one the most!

If you’re into making your own custom sandwich, go for it. You’ll be happy to know they don’t charge extra for any vegan meats or cheeses, either. And if you’re gluten-free, you can enjoy a salad version of any sandwich. Pair it with a cup of soup du jour or some potato chips for a well-rounded experience.
