Cycle Dogs Feeds Over 500 Frontline Workers During Pandemic
We love some good news during a pandemic, don't we?
And, boy, do we have some heart-warming and incredibly delicious news for you: Cycle Dogs is returning to normal business hours, after closing to the public a few days each week to feed frontline workers.
"Thank you all for giving us a couple of days a week to deliver to frontline and essential workers," they said in their Instagram post announcing the return of weekday service.
Seattle's favorite vegan-restaurant-on-wheels is now back Wednesday through Sunday, and ready to dish out their top-rated vegan street dogs, burgers, fries, and weekend brunch.
Cycle Dogs Fed Over 500 Meals To Frontline Workers
While Cycle Dogs returns to normal business hours, the impact they made to our essential worker community over the last few weeks was both impressive and heart-warming.
In mid-May during Covid-19 pandemic, Cycle Dogs made a business pivot toward feeding the essential workers in our community on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"Part of our mission at Cycle Dogs is to give back when we can," they said in their online announcement.
"Early on during the pandemic we were not able to pull this off financially, but with some hard work and planning we feel like we are finally able to give back to our frontline workers and first responders."
They collected $5 increment donations via GoFundMe from both local and faraway fans of the truck, and used that money to feed essential workers their signature vegan burgers and dogs. $4 covered a meal while the remaining $1 went to the food truck cooks as a tip.
USPS, Swedish Hospital, grocery stores, and other frontline worker establishments received complimentary vegan street fare, funded by the community and served up and delivered by Cycle Dogs.
At the announcement of their return to normal business hours, they also announced the final tally: "With your help we delivered 565 meals!"
It was unbelievably generous, and Cycle Dogs' efforts will undoubtedly prove to be strategic, as well.
How so?
Well, if you've ever had Cycle Dogs, you know how often the cravings return for another messy-delicious burger, street dog, or breakfast sandwich.
Vegan and non-vegan essential workers alike were able to enjoy Cycle Dogs, many for the first time; and in all likelihood, it won't be their last.
